King City’s 116th Avenue between Pacific Highway and Queen Elizabeth Street is going to get bumpier, but it’s for a good cause.
The King City City Council voted unanimously Aug. 19 to award a contract to Brix Paving Co., which was the low bidder on a construction project to improve the street.
Seven companies submitted bids, and Brix won the job with a bid of $216,639.43.
“All the bids were very competitive,” said City Manager Dave Wells. “The next highest bid was only $900 higher.
“Normally, this would have concerned me. We are fortunate to do it at this time.”
According to Wells, the work will be done primarily at night from about 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., when the street will be closed to traffic.
The project includes adding a new center turn lane that will allow traffic turning east onto 116th and then left into Bank of America to have room to queue while waiting to make the turn.
