Washington County Sheriff's Office tracks Royal Villas arsonist

Officials are now offering a reward for information leading to arrest

ADVERTISEMENTS

Nearly two dozen small fires have been set over the past few months at Royal Villas, which is located across Pacific Highway from King City, and a reward is now being offered for information leading to the arrest of the person or persons involved.

Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue has been dispatched to several small extinguished fires, according to King City Station 35 Captain Troy Spisla.

"Because these fires involved bushes, grass and shrubs along pathways, they were attributed to typical summertime fires - careless smoking, juveniles with lighters (and so on)," Spisla said Oct. 19. "Over the next month, more small extinguished fires were discovered by residents and reported to the 9-1-1 non-emergency number."

Washington County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to take reports, according to Spisla.

"Over the past two weeks, there have been more extinguished fires discovered by residents," he said. "These include charred shrubs, flags on the outside of occupied mobile homes and a 'for sale' sign.

"Thus far, there has been only one active fire. In mid-September, TVF&R was called to extinguish a tree fire that had spread to a vacant mobile home."

Spisla said that there have been approximately 20 extinguished fires discovered over the past several months.
