ADVERTISEMENTS
Key Bank in King City is more crowded than usual these days because it has been hosting a series of events to celebrate its grand re-opening.
For the past few months, bank employees and customers had to conduct business in a construction zone while the flooring was replaced, walls were moved, partitions were added, new furniture and light fixtures were installed, and painting was done.
One of the most striking additions is a huge conference room with red walls that will be accessible to the community, and other changes include a wheelchair ramp right outside the rear door and more user-friendly features at every turn.
The new light, contemporary look was winning rave reviews from customers even as work on the exterior was still going on.
The bank hosted several events in November - a customer appreciation day, a business appreciation day and a grand re-opening celebration, and it will host a Tigard Area Chamber of Commerce event in December, according to branch manager Ed Stallworth.
"We've made ADA access easier," said assistant manager Henry Tran, and customer service manager Trudy Glindmeyer added, "We kept the wood and natural lighting that give a Northwest feel to the building."
She said that Far West Federal originally constructed the building and that Key Bank purchased it when it came to Oregon.
A wall of photos taken around the community will be added to emphasize the bank's ties to the surrounding area.
"We try to make sure we celebrate the customer - both professionally and personally," Stallworth said. "A customer's business is not guaranteed. Within a quarter mile, we have 10 to 12 financial institutions, so we value the customers who choose to come here. We try to make our relationships with our customers personal. If we can help, we will."
